Lauren Cotter
Lauren has been performing in church and in public venues since she was a young girl. Growing up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, she had the privilege of studying voice under the great Patsy Gilliland for several years. Patsy encouraged Lauren in her church music, as well as, exposing her to classical music. In spring of 1995, Lauren played the role of Mother Abbess in the musical The Sound of Music and also participated in the Northern Nash high school chorus. After graduation in June of '95, Lauren moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue her studies in classical music at Belmont University. While at Belmont, she played the role of the Queen in My Fair Lady, won a first place award in a classical music competition, performed the alto solo in a production of Handel's Messiah, and was also in a small ensemble group named Company. In Tennessee, she also began her greatest role as a mother. For numerous years she focused on raising her children while still singing and participating in leadership roles in her church and also numerous other vocal engagements. After years of leading worship in church, God saw fit to place her with NorthBound in the fall of 2022. Lauren is a certified cosmetologist working at Studio 21 in Rosewood. She actively participates in Celebrate Recovery of Rosewood as a facilitator which is part of Hope Extended and also volunteers at the Women's Hope Center in Goldsboro. Lauren desires to continue spreading the miracle of God's goodness through her testimony and her music. She currently resides in Goldsboro with her husband Al and their children.
