Richard Phillips
Born in Bennettsville SC, Richard Phillips grew up singing in the church choir from the time he was a young boy. Eventually he became the church choir director selecting and organizing music for worship services, special events, funerals, and weddings. Because music has played such a defining role in his life, he has sung and performed with numerous gospel groups, praise teams, choirs, and community theater. Richard was the president of his high school chorus and was the first male singer to audition and be selected to perform with the SC Honors Choir in his sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school. He’s auditioned for talent shows such as “Star Search” and the “X-Factor” making it through several of the local audition rounds. He was named SC Male Vocalist of the Year 1987. One of his dreams came true in 2018 when he performed with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and has had the honor of performing for state and local events and local and state elected officials. Having served as master of ceremonies, and judging various talent shows/ beauty pageants, as well as recording two CDs; Richard uses his platform of music, as a tool to spread the message of Jesus Christ.
Currently residing in Goldsboro, NC Richard continues to be heavily involved in ministry. He serves as a member of his church praise team and choir. His greatest passion is the work he does with Hope Extended Outreach Ministries in Goldsboro NC. Working under the direction/ vision of Pastor Jimmy and First Lady Jean Bryant, he has given countless hours to various outreach ministries such as prison ministry, community soup kitchen, and celebrate recovery.
As lead singer for North Bound Worship, Richard approaches every opportunity to minister, with sincerity, energy, and encouragement. Sharing the life changing power of Christ, through music, is his life’s focus, in helping others to have a life changing experience with Christ in their own lives.
